We sought advice from Dr Sumit Samant, leading ENT Surgeon, who recommends the use of vegetable oil prior to your appointment.

Instructions for Oil Use
Place 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
(any vegetable oil) into your ear and lie on your side for 15-20 minutes, roll over let the oil drain out onto tissue and repeat the process in your other ear.
Do this once a day for three days before your appointment.
​No ear buds or cotton wool needed.
